Day 1: HCM City – Cycling to Vinh Long
At 8:00 AM, we collect you from your hotel in HCM City and drive you in our shuttle for about an hour to Long An, the starting point of the mighty Mekong. The first segment is a 25-kilometer drive through the verdant rice paddies and dragon fruit orchards between Long An suburb and My Tho city. Here, our guide will show you how to take care of this unique cacti tree and how farmers set up their dragon farms.Â
In My Phong commune, we also take a journey to a small village track to see a rice noodle workshop and watch an ancient method of making noodles used by the Chinese community since early 1679. From these noodles, the well-known noodle soup "Hu Tiu" was created.Â
After that, we will have a lunch break in a local restaurant in My Tho city.
In the afternoon, we travel to Cai Lay where we pick up your bicycles and enjoy your ride through peaceful countryside roads and lanes crossing nearby villages and beautiful natural canals. Next, after reaching Cai Be, take your overnight bag and board the boat to travel down the 1.5 km-wide Mekong River to BinhHoa Phuoc Island. It's time to take in the breathtaking sunsets of the Mekong River.Enjoy your dinner and spend the night on the island in an eco-guesthouse.
*Tips: It's a good idea to bring a small rucksack/bumbag with you for a night away on the island—a change of underwear, shirt, nylon bag, phone charger, etc.,.. as you'll be cycling and boating to the island.
Inclusion: Transfer, guide, bike, entrance fee, local boat, lunch, dinner, water and guest house.
Day 2: Vinh Long – Cycling to Can Tho
After breakfast, we start our ride for half an hour underneath the green canopy of trees to the Vinh Long ferry crossing, which is mostly shared with pedestrians and other local cyclists and scooters.
We then had a long trip to Can Tho. You may expect to travel through beautiful villages (with brick kilns and terracotta roofs), rice fields, and other rural waterfront cottages as our route varies (depending on the riding ability of each group).Â
We can take an optional shuttle to Can Tho after lunch or continue riding through the area's peaceful pathways and picturesque canals, via scenic rural roads to Dong Thanh, where we will visit a Khmer pagoda. The late afternoon is set aside for relaxing and wandering along the city quay and cycling across the suspension bridge to Can Tho city.
We’ll also have the choice of either staying in a hotel or at a countryside homestay.
Inclusion: Transfer, guide, bike, water, entrance fee, all meals, and hotel.
Day 3: Can Tho – Back to HCM City
After breakfast, at 6:30 AM, we set out on a morning boat ride to explore the lively Cai Rang floating market, one of the last authentic floating markets in Asia, which is surrounded by little peaceful creeks flowing around Can Tho. We also have the chance to visit a local vermicelli factory, rice husking mill, etc.Â
After that, we hop back on our bikes and enjoy two more hours of leisurely riding through some of the most picturesque parts of the Delta, passing various rural towns and canals while interacting with the friendly locals (many of whom will also be on bicycle).Â
On the way, we can stop at different regional marketplaces to watch how the local merchants run their business. After lunchtime, take our private van back to HCM City. You might want to get back on your bikes and enjoy one last ride? On your way back to HCM City, please talk with our guide about taking an extra route. Around 5:30 PM, the excursion ends at your hotel.
Inclusion: Transfer, guide, entrance fee, water, breakfast, lunch and local boat.
