Day 1: HCM City – Visit the fertile Mekong delta, cycling – Ben Tre
Our shuttle leaves HCM City at 8:00 a.m from your hotel for a 2-hour trip to Cai Lay. Here, you will pick up your bicycles and enjoy a cycling ride along peaceful country lanes passing through local villages and picturesque canals. You can also see farmers harvesting peanuts, explore a coconut candy factory, a puffed rice business, and visit a local market to buy fruits and souvenirs.
Next, have a great photo opportunity at Cai Be Catholic Church and admire its unique steeple on top. We board our boat to visit the floating market and cruise over the Mekong river to Tan Phong island. Use a small sampan and paddle through natural waterways before stopping for lunchtime at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, to explore the nearby rambutan and longan gardens and see farm life, we cycle on small paths alongside rivers shared with pedestrians, other local cyclists, and scooters. Taking a ferry to Ngu Hiep island, we continued cycling throughout a unique durian land for another 4 kilometers before taking a ferry to Tam Binh market, where we had a coffee break.
Hop on your bicycles and get back to Vinh Kim to enjoy milk fruit trees (aka. cainito fruit), and reach the victory monument of Rach Gam-Xoai Mut, listen to the battle of Quang Trung King against the Siam in 1785. We then have 5 km more to Binh Duc and catch a ferry to Thoi Son Island. Here, relax and spend the night in a lovely homestay.
Inclusion: Transfer, guide, entrance fee, lunch, dinner, bike, local boat, water, local farmer's homestay.
Day 2: Ben Tre – HCM City
After breakfast, we start cycling alongside the river, watching villagers' daily activities, and wandering on winding roads covered by a canopy of green coconuts. On the way, we cross the Ba Lai River, a small branch of the Mekong, and stop at local factories that make a variety of coconut-based products popular in Ben Tre, such as coconut candy, coconut pandanus waffles, sponge cake, etc.Â
Continue our ride downtown to have a lunch break. After lunch, take a hammock nap or cycle through the nearby villages. Returning to town on bikes, our van picks you up and travels back to Saigon.
You might want to mount your bikes some more and savor a final ride. On the journey back to Saigon, there are several roads surrounded by scenic paddy fields and dragon fruit orchards. Please discuss with your guide for extra cycling road. It's an opportunity to stop and travel on foot to the farmland or dragon fruit garden. Â
Inclusion: Transfer, guide, entrance fee, breakfast, lunch, bike, local boat, water.
